A: You may use four letters or a combination of letters and numbers but you cannot use numbers alone or numbers with a symbol. Example: 9 or #9 are NOT allowed. NO.9 is allowed.
Q: Can you substitute the letter O for the number 0?
A: No, The letter O is not used on license plates. All Os are the numeric 0; therefore, the 0 is not considered a letter.
Q: Can you use characters such as !, & , and ? as one or more of the four spaces on my personalized plate?
A: Yes. The following is a listing of approved characters and how much each space occupies, copied directly from the DMV special-license website.

Q: My plate was just renewed. Will I still need to pay the renewal fee in addition to the $25.00 or $55.00?
A: No. Although you will renew your license tag as scheduled prior to the “Support Soccer” license being made, the new license will be sent to you when completed without an additional charge until you renew again.

A: Yes. The number for the specialized-license section of the NC DMV is 919-861-3575.
Q: What is the website of DMV so that I can look up additional information?
A: No, 300 complete applications and checks are to be sent to Support Soccer PO Box 18229, Greensboro, NC 27419. Checks must be made out to Support Soccer in NC.
After the first 300 applications are collected and submitted to the DMV, the plates will then be available directly from the NCDMV and the NCDMV does offer credit card options.
Q: What is the total cost for a “Support Soccer” specialized plate?
A: For a “Support Soccer” with DMV-assigned numbers, total cost is $25.00 for the specialized plate. For a personalized “Support Soccer” plate, the fee is $25.00 for the specialized plate and an additional $30.00 for a personalized phrase.
These fees do not include the normal $28.00 annual license renewal fee paid to the DMV.
Q: When will the plates be available and how can I purchase one?
A: NC Soccer must collect 300 applications along with correct payment “Support Soccer” and submit the applications and payment to the DMV. Then the DMV will produce the plates and mail them to the first 300 applicants.
